Tyrese Gibson Instagram Posts Exploit 10-Year-Old Daughter and Jeopardizes Career

Tyrese Gibson’s Instagram posts on dealing with the custody issues of his 10-year-old daughter and his feud with ‘Fast and Furious’ co-star, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, shows that he is unfit to continue being a part of the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise.

I’m disappointed in the way that fame and money is destroying Tyrese Gibson’s legacy and career. His recent actions are erratic and show signs of a potential psychotic breakdown. It sucks to see Tyrese this way because I grew up listening to classic R&B music from artists like him. I remember watching his first movie, “Baby Boy,” with my sisters after school and laughing at the characters, Sweetpea and Melvin. I’m worried that the next generation won’t appreciate his contributions to the genre because of his recent actions.

Tyrese’s mental breakdown began in September when his ex-wife, Norma Gibson got a temporary domestic violence restraining order against him. She claimed that he physically abused their 10-year-old daughter, Shayla Gibson, but Tyrese denied the allegations. Two months later, Tyrese publicly posts on Instagram about the restraining order and his fragile relationship with his daughter. Instead of feeling sympathy for his situation, I became frustrated as I watched the live video on Instagram. Throughout his entire 6-minute rant, Tyrese is clearly crying directly into the camera while repeatedly panning the camera down to his “Shayla Rocks” printed sweatshirt. Throughout the video, he continued to plead to his ex-wife, “Please don’t take my baby, this is all I got!” He tells his 9 million Instagram followers that he is paying $13,000 a month for child support and that he has nothing left to give to his ex-wife. But is Instagram Live the best way to re-build your relationship with your daughter? No. It’s clear in the video that he is lonely and in desperate need of happiness.

Instead of protecting his daughter’s privacy, Tyrese continued to post about the situation and even began to sell “Shayla Rocks” branded t-shirts and sweatshirts on shaylarocks.com. He continued to attach #ShaylaRocks or #Shaylarocks.com to every Instagram post, showing that he is desperate to remain relevant. He continues to claim that the legal fees and negative publicity from the situation, is causing him to lose money and career opportunities. Meanwhile, he is living in a lavish house in L.A. with a built in Benihana-style restaurant, a coffee shop and a night club in his backyard.

If his Instagram rants were truly about being a father to his 10-year-old daughter, he would sell some of the unnecessary “toys” in his backyard. I do not know if the allegations about Tyrese reportedly hitting his daughter are true, but he is clearly exposing his relationship with her for views. Each video rant on Instagram about his daughter reaches 500,000 to a million views. He is constantly stressing that this is a situation about fathers and liars, but none of his actions throughout this custody battle are fatherly. He has started to use religion, meditation, and lies about celebrity friends to keep his new audience interested. Tyrese continued to post on Instagram, falsely claiming that actors, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith gave him $5 million to help with his legal custody fees. However, sources close to the couple claim that they didn’t give him any money to help pay for his legal fees. I am worried that the people around Tyrese are not encouraging him to get the psychological therapy that he needs. His Instagram posts are not only jeopardizing his relationship with the 10-year-old daughter but he’s proving that he is not stable enough to professionally handle criticism from his ‘Fast and Furious’ cast-mates.

Since Tyrese properly joined the ‘Fast and Furious’ cast in 2011 as Roman Pierce, his music and character has changed. In August of 2016, his co-star, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who plays Luke Hobbs, made an unprofessional post on Instagram about how some of the men within the franchise are weak and don’t stand up for themselves. Tyrese and fans of the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise was confused about Dwayne’s harsh tone. Tyrese seemed to become more frustrated with his co-star after he announced his new spin-off movie with Jason Statham, who plays Deckard Shaw, on July 26, 2019. Tyrese took to Instagram to express his disbelief and anger towards “The Rock” and his potential influence in pushing back the release date for the ‘Fast and Furious 9’ to April 2020. Instead of focusing on finding different opportunities to star as a lead in another movie, Tyrese gave ‘Fast and Furious’ producers an ultimatum. Tyrese claimed that he will not star in another ‘Fast and Furious’ movie if Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is in the movie.

Tyrese’s character, Roman Pearce adds the needed comic relief in the ‘Fast and Furious’ series, but his character does not control the storyline. Making demands for producers who help you provide a lavish lifestyle for your daughter, isn’t wise. However, Tyrese continued to post about his frustration with “The Rock” and his suspicious behavior. In October, Tyrese posted a video of Dwayne Johnson violently criticizing his 6th Studio album, “Black Rose”. The Rock unprofessionally referred to the album as “dog sh*t” and blamed Tyrese for wasting his time.

Recently, Tyrese stated that he is done making posts about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson after talking with his associates.

He has also been granted joint custody of his 10-year-old daughter, Shayla Gibson and no longer has a domestic violence restraining order against him. Even though Tyrese cannot use corporal punishment on his daughter and must attend joint therapy sessions with her, he is now allowed to be around his daughter. However, online, he continues to go into this victim mentality by emphasizing that his story doesn’t change and that he fought so hard to be a father first. If Tyrese was a father first, he would not be boasting about it on Instagram. If Tyrese cares so much about being a father first, he should be just that, Shayla’s father. Don’t try to be her father who is an actor or musician. Don’t try to be her father with a fancy house and ridiculously expensive entertainment in his backyard. Don’t be the father that cries on Instagram about a problem with her mother instead of analyzing the reason behind their issues. Don’t be the father who has a psychotic breakdown and is now a meme and a challenge online. Be a father with character and principles that Shayla can look for in a future partner. Show Shayla that she rocks by supporting her without posting it online. Wake up Jodey before you lose everything.
