Adventure Time Continues But Should It? Posted on December 21, 2019December 21, 2019 by Sydneye Olkowski HBO Max has decided that the end of the beloved animated series Adventure Time will not be the final end to the land of Ooo and its colorful characters. The new specials will fall under the title of Adventure Time: Distant Lands and will be four one-hour episodes and will be available for streaming some time in 2020. It follows suit with Steven Universe Future in being a limited series that will continue a beloved show. Unfortunately, Adventure Time did not need to be followed up with anything. The end of the series was perfect and melancholic as the show needed to end after being on for so many years. It was time for the story to come to a close. It did not need to be continued in another series. We got the endings a majority of fans wanted with the Marceline and Princess Bubblegum finally being cannon romantic partners. As opposed to Steven Universe, Adventure Time left no questions unanswered. We know what happened with both of Finn’s biological parents. We know what happen in the land of Ooo to make it the cheery post-apocalyptic world it was. We are most intrigued to see what these four hours will bring to the story. From the looks of the new series poster, we might be getting new art design for our favorite characters. It might leave more to be desired which would contradict the satisfying end the original series had. It is unclear if Pendelton Ward, the original creator of Adventure Time, is involved in this new series. Although he left the writing crew years ago, it is a wonder if the same energy and tone will come with this new series. There is also the questions of time. Will this new series skip a couple years in the future or will it pick up immediately where we left off? There is a lot of unknown surrounding this new series. It is questionable though that this series is unnecessary and could turn a believe series into a needless cash grab. Some series end beautifully and the story does not need to continue much like Disney’s Gravity Falls.
