With the election coming up, there will be a lot of young people going out to vote for the next president. Savanna-Rae Gill is a high school senior.

Briceon Monk: Are you voting this election? Yes or no, and why?

Savanna-Rae Gill: Yes, I’m voting in the election. I feel like it’s very important to have my input as a young person, especially in this specific election.

Briceon Monk: Feel like your vote counts?

Savanna-Rae Gill: Absolutely, I do feel like my vote counts as much as anybody else’s does.

Briceon Monk: How do you feel about Wisconsin being a swing state?

Savanna-Rae Gill: I don’t have many thoughts on it, not many thoughts.

Briceon Monk: What other thoughts do you have about the election right now?

Savanna-Rae Gill: You know, just a little bit of worry, you know it’s always two different possibilities, two different candidates. You never know what could happen. So, just kind of like hoping for the best and hoping that everything goes a good way and benefits the U.S. as a whole.

Briceon Monk: Are you happy with the choice we have for the presidential election?

Savanna-Rae Gill: Overall, I’m going to say no, but I’m going to say yes, at the same time. I feel like we have a good candidate, but I feel like we could have some better candidates.

Briceon Monk: Do you think social media and the news outlets influence voters?

Savanna-Rae Gill: Yeah, I do I think social media plays a huge role in the influence on people for their vote. So, yeah, I definitely think, because, you know (it’s) lots of misinformation sometimes, maybe, you know good information. It just depends on what you’re looking at on social media and like where you’re getting your information from. So that’s really it, I think social media has a big influence on it.
