‘It feels like the interests of other countries have come first before ours.’ Posted on November 10, 2025November 10, 2025 by Raquel Escobedo Edward Ziemba. Edward Ziemba, 22, is a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee studying film. He is unconvinced by and skeptical of the current actions and policies presented by the Trump administration since Inauguration Day. Raquel Escobedo: How has the current administration’s presidency in general made you feel about the current state of our country? Edward Ziemba: It feels like the interests of other countries have come first before ours, which I’m not a fan of. Protests such as the No Kings protests taking place in various parts of the country does make me feel less confident with the current administration. Raquel Escobedo: Is there any issue or policy from the current administration that you believe received too much attention in the media? Any issues that have received too little attention? Edward Ziemba: The expansion of the White House east wing shouldn’t be that controversial. From what I’ve seen, the East Wing was small and outdated with events often requiring additional tents to be set up on the White House’s lawn. This larger expansion is important for continuing the White House’s history of grandeur and functionality while elevating it for new needs of the future. Raquel Escobedo: Looking ahead, what do you believe will be the long-term impact of this administration and how will it impact this generation? Edward Ziemba: One of the long-term impacts of this presidency may lead to higher distrust in the Republic Party, especially running on the promise of releasing the Epstein files, which at this time have not happened. Raquel Escobedo: If you could send a message or question directly to an official in the current administration about their policies, what would it be? Edward Ziemba: My question would be, why are we sending so much money to foreign nations when we can be using that money to improve American infrastructure? Especially while we continue to fall behind China in overall quality of life and economic development.
