Golden Globe Awards 2026: Milwaukee-Based Film ‘Song Sung Blue’ Receives Single Nomination Posted on December 8, 2025December 8, 2025 by Ethan Ainley Golden Globe 2026 nominations have been revealed, and Song Sung Blue received little recognition after hosting its Milwaukee premiere last week. The only nomination that the film received was Kate Hudson for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. The film only holds a very tame 84% on Rotten Tomatoes, which, after the lack of Golden Globe nominations, signals that its award chances are crashing and burning. Song Sung Blue received no nominations from the Critics’ Choice Awards, which were announced last week. Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman in a still shot from the Song Sung Blue trailer. Photo: Focus Features Hugh Jackman Visited Milwaukee According to his Instagram page, Jackman toured Milwaukee with much fanfare on Dec. 2 by first stopping at Kopp’s in Greenfield to serve a special custard flavor based on the film. Later that night, the actor appeared at the Oriental Theater on Milwaukee’s East Side for the premiere of Song Sung Blue. After the film, Jackman went next door to Landmark Lanes to sing some karaoke with the real-life subject of the film. However, all that charm Jackman used during his visit to Milwaukee apparently wasn’t powerful enough when campaigning to award voters. Jackman’s performance has received mixed reviews from fans and critics compared to the generally more favorable reviews of Hudson’s performance. SONG SUNG BLUE is basically A STAR IS BORN, Neil Diamond impersonator edition. Surprisingly terrible acting from Hugh Jackman (who I normally love) & a weird mix of tones do the movie no favors. Kate Hudson’s excellent performance is on a different level from any other element. pic.twitter.com/4UOQPlXLju— Josh At The Movies (@PoisonKeyblade) December 8, 2025 Song Sung Blue is a docudrama and music film based on the true story of a Milwaukee husband and wife who were a Neil Diamond tribute band. Mike and Claire Sardina, the film’s subjects, were in a Milwaukee-based band called Lightning and Thunder, performing Neil Diamond and Patsy Cline music from the 1980s to the 2000s. The film, directed by Craig Brewer, stars Jackman and Hudson in the titular husband and wife roles. Song Sung Blue will be released nationwide in theaters on Christmas Day, hoping to capture families’ attention for the holiday box office.
