UWM’s Annual Drag Show Inspires Inclusion and Visibility on UWM’s Campus Posted on February 28, 2020July 13, 2021 by Maggie Holdorf Produced/Edited by: Maggie Holdorf The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s LGBTQ+ resource center hosted its annual Drag Show at the Miller High Life Theater on Feb. 20. The annual UWM Drag show has been a tradition at UWM for over 20 years and is one of the largest drag shows in the Midwest. UWM’s pride for the LGBTQ+ community is one of the many reasons why students choose this campus in comparison to other universities, said Sarah DeGeorge, assistant director of the LGBTQ+ Resource Center. Consistently ranked in the top 20-25 most LGBTQ+ friendly campus in the nation, according to chancellor Mark Mone, the UWM drag show stands out as a reason why. From newcomers to seasoned queens and kings, drag continues to be a way to bring positivity, inclusion, and support into the LGBTQ+ community. The drag show is just one of the many ways that UWM supports the community.
