To some it may be a gross thing to go dumpster diving, venture into abandon buildings or clean out farms. But on the edge of Riverwest in Milwaukee, there is a shop called the Riverwest Compound where artists do exactly that. As Erica Peckarsky discovered, they’re turning found objects into sculpture and musical instruments.

Concinnity is a small science fiction and gaming convention held on MSOE’s campus. Just one of Milwaukee’s various conventions, Concinnity has helped to grow small communities trough it’s promotion of subcultures. Sarah Thomas Reports.

Yale professor and critic Aníbal González-Pérez presented a lecture to honor Latin-American novelist Gabriel Garcia Márquez one year after his death. González-Pérez focused on Márquez’s novel 100 Years of Solitude. The UWM Department of Spanish and Portugese and UWM Libraries sponsored the event. Emily Zantow listened in.
