Run, Run as Fast as You Can Posted on November 21, 2014December 1, 2014 by Jimmy Khun Use one Korean television show for inspiration and add in riddles and a scavenger hunt. That’s what board members of the Asian Student Union and Hmong Student Association did, sending teams of students around campus in a version of the Amazing Race. The board members created a fright week of events that led up to a Halloween dance. Beginning the week of Oct. 20, board members engaged in thinking up fun activities. Tracy Yang was coordinator of a day called, The Amazing Race: Running Man Edition. “The event was successful due to everyone’s participation. The people enjoyed the activities, which I am extremely proud about because I worked hard,” Yang said. The event started off as a team scavenger hunt that involved around four different teams. The event itself was coordinated by co-social chair, Yang. This event was Yang’s first experience at creating an event as she enters the club as a freshman. She gathered inspiration from a hit Korean television show and did her best to attract as many participators as possible. The Amazing Race: Running Man Edition consisted of riddles, fun, and most importantly, running. Yang had hidden seven objects within campus grounds, and once the first obstacle was passed, a riddle was given in order to find the next object. Once all seven objects were collected, teams that had won round one proceeded onwards. This round was called Name Tag Elimination, and the objective was to rid your whole entire team’s name tags as fast as you possibly can, and the winners were decided after this round. Through sweat and perseverance, Jamal Keyon Perry’s team won. When asked what was most memorable to Perry, he said, “It was nice bonding while playing the game, running around campus, and winning was memorable.” As the event came to an end, all of those who participated were exhausted from running but thoroughly enjoyed the experience that Yang had created. “…Overall, the experience was successful, and it was a lot of fun,” Yang said.
