Kandi Burruss Files for Divorce from Todd Tucker After 11 Years Posted on December 4, 2025December 4, 2025 by Donnie Claybrooks-Carter Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter and former star of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kandi Burruss, announced over the weekend that she is divorcing her husband of 11 years, producer Todd Tucker. Burruss, 49, confirmed the split in an exclusive statement to People magazine on Friday, November 21. The announcement followed days of media speculation ignited by the star’s recent appearance at BravoCon 2025. Fans began to speculate that something was afoot after Burruss received a “Wifetime Achievement Award” at the event and was photographed without her wedding ring. Many also noted that the Xscape member had recently removed “Tucker” from her Instagram profile. The reality star’s statement read in part: “After deep thought and a lot of prayer, I’ve made the decision to move forward with a divorce. This is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect.” There has been no public statement from Tucker, 52, who met Burruss while working as a line producer on the fourth season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta in 2011. The couple’s relationship allegedly began against network rules, which ultimately forced Tucker to leave his production role on the show. The couple married in April 2014. They share two children together, Ace, 9, and Blaze, 6, and both have adult daughters from previous relationships. A major part of the couple’s documented history on the show was the early drama surrounding two topics: Burruss’ mother and the couple’s prenuptial agreement. Fans will recall Burruss’ mother, affectionately known as Mama Joyce, being very vocal about her mistrust of Tucker. In one now-iconic scene, she declared to Tucker, “Ain’t no mountain high enough, ain’t no valley low enough, ain’t no river wide enough…to keep me off yo ass baby!” The prenuptial agreement was another hot topic during the early years of the couple’s relationship because Burruss entered the marriage significantly more financially successful than her groom. The negotiations for the prenup, which included a contentious clause requiring Tucker to vacate their shared home within 30 days of a split, were filmed and highlighted the financial complexities of their relationship. Legal analysts now view the existence of this agreement as a crucial element that may streamline the division of their wealth. Despite their pre-marital financial disparity, the couple successfully embarked on several joint business ventures. Their shared portfolio includes the successful Atlanta-based Old Lady Gang (OLG) restaurant chain, various real estate holdings, several acclaimed Broadway productions, and a trucking company. The day following the divorce announcement, Burruss and Tucker demonstrated their commitment to co-parenting by reuniting to celebrate their 6-year-old daughter Blaze’s birthday party at Ready, Set FUN! in Atlanta. This gesture reflects Kandi’s stated desire to maintain a focus on family. Burruss’ statement to People concluded: “I’m stepping into a new chapter pouring into my work, my family, and my own growth. I’m grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years, and I ask for privacy, grace, and understanding as we navigate this transition with our family.” The filing date of the divorce paperwork was not immediately clear.
