Kanye and Jay-Z Fallout Continues Posted on October 22, 2017October 22, 2017 by Samuel Schmitz In all honesty, as a big fan of hip-hop, I’m shocked that Kanye West would ever back out of a partnership with Jay Z. After all, Jay Z was the main reason why Kanye West was able to pave his own lane in the music game. For those who don’t know, Kanye began his career as a producer before he was winning grammys and breaking record sales as an MC. Jay Z was technically the reason why Kanye West was able to begin his career on such a big stage. Kanye produced some of Jay Z’s most popular records, such as Izzo and Heart of the City (Ain’t No Love). You could always find Kanye’s name somewhere in the production credits of any Jay Z album until recently. The duo has had an ugly couple of altercations recently. This incident with Tidal only adds to the list. It really is sad to see. It’s like watching Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook’s relationship go from bad to ugly all over again. According to Perez Hilton, Kanye was owed over $3 million from Tidal. The company’s approach to exclusively streaming certain artist’s music on their platform has frustrated Kanye. As a result, Kanye will no longer be exclusively premiering music on Tidal. This is a win for music fans, but not for the friendship of the two artists. I love that Kanye’s new music will be available on all platforms whenever it’s released. Jay Z wasn’t too fond of it apparently. Nearly all of Jay’s music is exclusively on Tidal because he is the majority owner of the company. He released a new album this past week. I couldn’t tell whether it’s good or bad because I don’t have a Tidal account. I can tell you that Jay has a few lines dissing Kanye West according to Perez Hilton. I never expected Jay Z to go so far as to dis Kanye West on a track. Hopefully, both of these legends can get past this rough patch in their friendship. I just want the two artists to be happy like they used to be. Maybe we can get another Watch the Throne album if they decide to make-up.
