Milwaukee concert-goers are excited that Summerfest is able to attract popular artists such as Post. “The fact that they’re getting the caliber of people like that is a good sign for the rest of the lineup,” said Michael Janssen, a 24-year-old Milwaukee resident. Janssen says that going to concerts is one of his favorite things, though it can be a concern financially. “I try to go to as many as I can, trying to be budget-friendly as much as possible,” said Janssen. The largest music festival in Milwaukee, Summerfest, draws artists from across the country and the world. However, in the post-COVID-19 pandemic years, concerns have arisen about a lack of A-list stars. The 2026 headliners represent big gets for Summerfest. Both Post and Sheeran are incredibly popular, with both having songs in the top-10 most-streamed songs on Spotify. Attendance Concerns With multiple A-list headliners, Summerfest looks to build upon its attendance mark of over 600,000 people in 2025. That was up 8% from the previous year, according to an article from The Milwaukee Record. While the 2025 attendance is up from 2024, Summerfest is still recovering from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. They have also changed the format of the festival multiple times in the past two decades. This is likely in response to the slow decline in attendance from its peak of over 1 million attendees in 2001, according to BizTimes. The Summerfest press release may have given a hint at the setlist expectation for his performance “Post Malone will be bringing all his biggest hits, along with tracks from his new record-breaking album, F-1 Trillion, to the festival for the first time!” said the press release. This points to Post playing a blend of musical genres over the course of the night. He is generally most well-known for his rap-pop hits, but has recently moved into country with the 2024 release of F-1Trillion. Not many genre-hop as well as Post, as he has earned RIAA Platinum awards for four of his albums covering multiple different genres: 2016’s Stoney, 2018’s Beerbongs & Bentleys, 2019’s Hollywood’s Bleeding and 2024’s F-1Trillion. He will share the stage with Carter Faith, an up-and-coming country music singer-songwriter. She released her debut album earlier this month. Steep Pricing Potentially a Concern There is concern for some, including Janssen, about the prices on tickets to see the headliners this year. On Ticketmaster, lawn seats in the amphitheater are already going for close to $150 per ticket, with the best seats on the floor approaching $800. “I checked the prices on the tickets, and it’s a little steep at the moment,” said Janssen. “I may have to wait and see about getting tickets for that.” While he is concerned about the headliner costs, Janssen encourages people to check out the other things that Summerfest has to offer. “You can pretty much get in for free every day of the festival if you figure it out, because they’ve got all the promotions and people who give out free tickets all the time,” said Janssen. “So I think if you want to just walk around and see what you can discover, it’s worth just going to check it out.” While it is true that fans generally can find ways to get in for free to see smaller bands and local talent, the main draw for Summerfest continues to be the name value of its headliners. Social media posts about this year’s headliners have already amassed tens of thousands of likes and hundreds of positive comments.
