Star Trek Beyond: Anton Remembered In The Best Way

Star Trek Beyond was everything I expected it to be and more. Outer space travels, a fantastic group of people and some super cool aircrafts. To add on to how good it was they had Simon Pegg who plays Montgomery Scott contributing as script write this time around the movie had comedic elements added to it. I am not a big fan of the Star Trek franchise however I enjoyed this movie very much.

Other members of the cast of the third Star Trek film include Chris Pine as James T. Kirk and captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise, Zachary Quinto as S’chn T’gai Spock, Zoe Saldana as Nyto Uhura, John Cho as Hikaru Sulu and Idris Elba as this movies villain, Krall. They managed to created a movie that would be enjoyable to people who aren’t even fans of this saga.

Famous director JJ Abrams stepped down to pass the roll on to Justin Lin who was director to Fast and the Furious. As usual the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise are sent on a mission into a nebula that is unknown to help people in need. Many of them end up being captured and their captain was determined as ever to save them. Captain Kirk has always shown strong feelings for his crew and that came through very clearly in this movie as it did in all the rest.

Some people may think of it as too lightweight. As the movie is more humorous then the ones before it, it may come off as less serious than usual. I’d imagine for people who enjoy Star Trek and have been long time fans to feel this way but I can also imagine other people thinking the same too. There was just the right about of humor for one to laugh along but still take the movie seriously. However I feel as though there were part of the movie that were deep and meaningful.

They end up saving the many many people that live on the space port Yorktown which include Sulu’s husband and daughter. Yorktown is something people can only imagine but brought it life it looked amazing and so real. Krall who was a soldier early in his life tried to make them go back to their old ways when there was no unity and only war or rather how he remembered the world to be but failed as Captain Kirk managed to stop him.

I’ve always especially enjoyed the choice of who they cast as the shows villain and of course I felt Idris Elba was good for the roll. Following after Eric Bana and Benedict Cumberbatch, Elba seemed to fit the roll he was given and didn’t let down. Also I enjoyed the fact that he was like 100 years old and looked like a Klingon but was still really cool.

Star Trek Beyond was very much about how a captain sticks with his crew. The word unity comes up often in the script. I’ve always enjoyed very much the bromance between Captain Kirk and Spock and of course they never fail to provide just the right amount of it. As First Officer, Spock is always there for Kirk. They look to each other for guidance and basically need each other to perform their best.

The movie ended on a happy note with Captain Kirk’s crew having a birthday party for him. There a short conversation between Uhura and Spock that show us we do not need to worry about them ending their relationship anytime soon. There also a conversation between Kirk and Spock that shows us how strong their friendship is and how they will always be there to help each other.

In the middle of the credits they added the words in memory of Leonard Nimoy. Nimoy played Spock in Star Trek the original series as well as the 2009 movie Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness. The words “For Anton” also appeared on screen for the late Anton Yelchin who played Pavel Andreievich Chekov. Yelchin passed away at the age of 27 in a freak accident about a month ago and missed the premiere of the movie.
