Taylor Swift’s 2023 ‘Eras Tour’ Presale: 5 Things to Know Posted on November 7, 2022November 7, 2022 by Ainsley Feigles Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has announced her 2023 ‘Eras Tour’ following the record-breaking release of her tenth studio album, ‘Midnights.’ The presale for the tickets begins on Nov. 15. The 32-year-old pop star made the announcement through her social media and a video that aired on GMA Tuesday morning. “Really, I’m just so excited that I get to look you guys in the eye and say thank you for everything,” Swift said in the video, speaking directly to her fans. “Thank you for this incredible week with ‘Midnights’ and everything that you’ve done for me.” In her social media announcement, Swift said the tour will be a “journey through the musical eras” that have defined her career. She has currently announced 27 shows at stadiums across the U.S., starting on March 18 in Glendale, Arizona and ending on Aug. 5 in Los Angeles, California. International dates are soon to come, according to Swift’s announcement. In the Midwest, she will give two concerts in Chicago, Illinois, as well as one night each in Detroit, Michigan, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kansas City, Missouri. Many fans are hopeful about the potential of getting tickets. One such fan is UWM student Elizabeth Lintonen, who has been listening to Taylor Swift for about 12 years and has wished to attend one of her concerts. “My first CD I ever owned was ‘Speak Now,’ and I played it all the time on, like, my Hello Kitty CD player,” Lintonen said. While many are anticipating the opportunity to buy tickets to Swift’s tour, there are some steps that must be followed first. Here’s what to know about the tour, presale and how to go about purchasing tickets. 1. High popularity is expected, according to Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster predicts that many fans will be trying to buy tickets to Swift’s tour. According to their FAQ page on the tour, “demand is expected to be extremely high.” The tour will be Swift’s first tour in over four years, with her last tour for ‘Reputation’ having taken place in 2018. Additionally, the singer canceled her 2020 ‘Lover Fest’ tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since her last tour, Swift has released four new albums and re-recorded two of her older albums. These factors are likely contributing to the anticipated high demand for tickets. 2. The tour announcement follows the successful release of her newest album, ‘Midnights.’ Swift’s tour announcement comes after the Oct. 21 release of ‘Midnights,’ her tenth studio album. The songs from her new album have currently gained her all top ten spots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Swift achieved this status in one week, being the first artist to do so, according to Billboard. 3. Fans must be registered as a TaylorSwiftTix Verified Fan through Ticketmaster to access the presale. Registering to be a Verified Fan allows fans the opportunity to potentially access the presale, but this is not a guarantee. According to Ticketmaster, fans have until Nov. 9 at 11:59 p.m. ET to register to be a Verified Fan. They will then receive a notification on the evening of Nov. 14 as to whether they have been verified and also whether they have been selected for the presale. For those who receive confirmation, the presale will begin at 10 a.m. local venue time on Nov. 15, and there will be a limit of six tickets. 4. There is also a Capital One cardholder presale. The tour is presented by Capital One, and cardholders will have access to an exclusive presale at 2 p.m. local venue time on Nov. 15, four hours after the Verified Fan presale, according to Taylor Swift’s website. Cardholders can access the presale through Swift’s website by using the first six digits of their Capital One card. Following this presale, tickets will be offered for sale to the general public beginning on Nov. 18 at 10 a.m. local venue time. 5. The openers for the tour will vary based on which show fans attend. Swift has announced nine guest artists that will be opening for her on tour: Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN. For her two nights in Chicago, Swift will be joined by girl in red and OWENN.
