Barby The Book Fairy

In June of 2019, Bárbara Cerada noticed a “Little Free Library” on the corner of 9th and State. Why did this little library stand out? Well, it was empty. For the next year, Barbara would keep that little library full of books for the families in the area, encouraging her friends and family to do the same. Fast forward to 2020, Barbara took notice of another empty little library in her south side Milwaukee neighborhood. She filled it up and the next day, it was empty again. She filled it again. Within an hour… empty. Since 2020, Barbara’s mission has expanded beyond her family and friends. She founded “Barby the Book Fairy”, an organization dedicated to providing BIPOC books to families throughout south Milwaukee. Brooke Curry tells us her story in this short documentary.
