Brandon Graham Is Considering Unretiring & Rejoining The Philadelphia Eagles

Two-time Super Bowl champion Brandon Graham is considered unretiring, according to NFL Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. Graham, the former Eagle, retired last year after his second Super Bowl ring with the Eagles.

According to Mike Florio, the former defensive edge is in talks with the Eagles on a contract that would bring him back to Philadelphia. Graham is considering rejoining an Eagles team that is tied for 25th in sacks this season and only one of those sacks coming from an edge rusher. This also comes off the news that Eagles pass rusher Za’Darius Smith announced on Instagram that he is retiring.

Graham addressed his consideration of unretirement before it was announced on his podcast Unblocked after the Eagles’ loss of Smith.

“I’m flattered, actually, that everybody (says), ‘Come on back, come on back,” Graham said. “It’s pretty cool.”

Graham neither confirmed nor denied a decision on his podcast. This however was not the first time Graham had made an unexpected comeback. During the season last year, Graham had torn his triceps in late November during a game against the Los Angeles Rams.

It was reported by Graham himself that season that he would be out for the year. However, Graham made a surprising comeback for the Eagles’ Super Bowl run, only to tear his triceps again during the Super Bowl.

Former teammate of Graham and former Eagles center Jason Kelce also gave his thoughts on Graham’s decision and how it might impact this Eagles defense on WIP-FM.

“They would benefit from having his physicality and the way he plays defensive end on the field,” Kelce said. “Outside of that, I only want Brandon Graham to play football if he wants to play football. I don’t think when he retired, he fully wanted to stop playing football.”

Graham has yet to make a final decision while the Eagles get set for their next match–up against their division rival, the New York Giants.
