One of Hollywood’s most well-known non-binary actors, Ezra Miller was arrested for second-degree assault in Pāhoa, Hawaii on the morning of April 19, 2022, just four weeks after they were arrested for disorderly conduct and harassment.

According to the Hawaii Police Department, a little after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, officers responded to a call from a private residence in Leilani Estates, a subdivision of lower Puna. Allegedly, there was a get-together happening at the home when an assault occurred.

Police later alleged that Ezra Miller was asked to leave after they became violent. The situation escalated with Miller throwing a chair at a 26-year-old woman. She was left with a half-inch cut on her forehead. According to the police, she refused treatment.

Miller was released at 4:05 a.m. the same morning pending a further investigation. The investigation is still active.

Prior to Miller’s April 19 encounter with police, they were first arrested in Hawaii on March 28, 2022. During this incident, they were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct at a bar in South Hilo, Hawaii. The police were called after Miller allegedly grabbed a microphone from a 23-year-old woman singing karaoke to broadcast obscenities throughout the establishment that night. It was reported that Miller later “lunged” at a 32-year-old man playing darts.

Miller’s bail was set to $500 for their March 28 charge. They paid the bail and were released the same day, according to police.

Miller’s back-to-back alleged criminal activity in Hawaii drew mass attention on Twitter.

On April 20, @CultureCrave took to Twitter to write, “Ezra Miller is back at it after their second arrest…Menace to society.” Attached to their tweet, is a video that shows Miller’s mugshot on a television before it pans to what appears to be them conversating with people at an outdoor gathering.

Other Twitter users compared Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars to Ezra Miller’s charges. Smith was banned from attending all Academy events including the Oscars for 10 years, whereas Miller faces no current career repercussions.

@bilngerism on Twitter said, “the way people are reacting to ezra miller’s repeated violence towards women is tame compared to the oscars slap because at most chris rock felt a tingle on his cheek but a woman is left with a GASH on her FOREHEAD and all ppl have to say is “i hope ezra gets help”’

According to Esquire, Warner Bros. met to discuss the future of Miller’s role as “The Flash” in the DC franchise’s new The Flash film set to release June 23, 2023. Currently, Miller’s leading role still stands.
