Former Denver Bronco and Super Bowl Champ Demaryius Thomas, 33, Found Dead.

ROSWELL, Ga.- Former Denver Bronco and New York Jet wide receiver Demaryius Thomas has died at age 33, according to a police report released Friday, Dec. 10.

Police responded just before 7 p.m. to Thomas`s house on reports of someone suffering a cardiac arrest, police wrote in an incident report.

Thomas was found in his shower, “not conscious or breathing.” according to police reports.

LaTonya Bonseigneur, a first cousin of Thomas, told the Associated Press the family believes he passed away from a seizure.

“He had been suffering from seizures for over a year, and we believe he had a seizure when he was showering,” Bonseigneur said. “We’re not sure when he died. We just spoke with him yesterday.”

The football world was in shock the following day and many NFL players took to Twitter.

He will be dearly missed. He was a big reason why I came out here to play,” Manning said, who played with Thomas in Denver.

“Off the field, he was every bit as good of a person as he was a player. Very giving to all of his teammate’s charities, great with all the players and families. So, it’s just been so tough, thoughts and prayers to his family.

“I’m so sad to wake up this morning to hear about the passing of my friend Demaryius Thomas,” Brady said. “We were all blessed with his humility and positive spirit, and we will all miss him. This photo is from the hall of Fame this past August, a source of light as always. RIP.”

The Denver Broncos released a statement early Friday, mourning the loss of Thomas.

“We are devastated and completely heartbroken by the sudden, tragic passing of Demaryius Thomas. D.T. was beloved by our entire organization, his teammates and coaches, and our fans. Recently retiring as a Brinco, we were very much looking forward to celebrating Demaryius for years to come as one of the greatest players in franchise history.”

Thomas retired in June of 2021 with a short video with the Denver Broncos.

“I’m Demaryius Thomas. I finally came to a decision to hang it up. I’m gonna retire a Denver Bronco,” Thomas said. “I’m honored, I’m grateful, I’m appreciative, there’s so many things I could say.”

“Woke up and saw the really devastating news about my teammate and friend, Demaryius Thomas. So many are going to remember him for his athletic ability…but I’ll be remembering him for his kindness, his smile that would light up a room, and the love he had for those in his life,” Tim Tebow said.

Thomas and Tebow were the Bronco’s two first-round picks in 2010. Thomas spent nine seasons with the team. He finished his career with the Broncos as the second all-time leading receiver, behind Rod Smith.

Thomas played 10 seasons overall with the Broncos, Jets, and the Houston Texans and finished with 724 catches for 9,763 yards and 63 touchdowns.

“Demaryius was a great guy,” said Bonseigneur. “He came from humble beginnings. He knew god. He was raised in the church and by a close-knit family.”

“Even though he rose to stardom, to us he was just a kid from Montrose. We never fathomed he would go on to do all these things. He was just a kid who love playing football.”

Thomas would’ve turned 34 on Christmas.
