College Sex Week in the Dorms Posted on November 21, 2014December 1, 2014 by Zach Maynard “Sex Week,” as it is affectionately called, was comprised of events and talks such as “Pleasure Principles,” “Sex in the Dark,” and “Condom Bingo.” Most of these college sex week events took place in the Flicks room in the Sandburg Residence Hall, but others, such as the “Condom Olympics,” took place at Riverview off- campus. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Sex Week 2014, put on by the Student Housing Administrative Council (SHAC), engaged students and explored the limitless possibilities of human sexuality. Sabrina Waterfield, freshman SHAC events coordinator, was optimistic and happy to participate in Sex Week. “It was a good turn-out. A lot of people showed up. I mean it’s Sex Week, and the name kind of automatically turns people on – pun unintended,” said Waterfield. When asked about how the Sex Week events had an impact on students, Waterfield commented on the informational aspect of the program. “These events were highly educational. They helped the students recognize real life scenarios and how to deal with them. I think we also provided them with details on resources they could access for more information and safer sex materials.” Freshman Bri Moore’s favorite Sex Week event was the first – “Pleasure Principles,” which was a highly informal yet informational discussion about all things sex put on by A Woman’s Touch’s Sheryn Bruehl. Moore was one of the recipients of the free vibrators that were enthusiastically given out by Bruehl during the event as prizes for people who asked intriguing questions. Bruehl also distributed abundant packets of lubricant and many, many condoms. On whether or not Sex Week was a success, Moore had this to say: “I thought Sex Week was very informative. I now know certain things about sex that I didn’t know before.” Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)
