The Suite Life of Zack & Cody [REVIEW]

The Suite Life of Zack & Cody is a T.V. series that was first aired on Disney Channel in 2005 and was a hit with the younger audience. Many kids born in the late 90’s have likely watched the show and have memories of doing so. Zack and Cody are twins who live in a hotel, which the show is very much based off of. The hotel is called the Tipton. It doesn’t necessarily seem like a typical hotel some would think of. The hotel really feels like a home to many of the characters in the show. The rooms or “suites” aren’t all the same. Imagine it as a condo where personal items are present, and the furniture is different for those who live there. A lot of fun is had in the hotel, mainly by Zack and Cody. A lot of stress and chaos is apparent due to having Zack and Cody in the Tipton but makes for a very fun and an interesting watch.

The Suite Life of Zack & Cody was produced by It’s a Laugh Productions and takes place in Boston, MA. The show is classified as a teen sitcom and is sure to make anyone and everyone laugh. The main characters in the show are Zack, Cody, London, Maddie, Mr. Moseby, and Carey. Zack is played by Dylan Sprouse and Cody is played Cole Sprouse. Brenda Song playes London, Ashley Tisdale plays Maddie, Phill Lewis plays Moseby, and Kim Rhodes plays Carey. Carey is the mother of Zack and Cody. London is a rich girl and is the daughter of the hotels owner. Maddie is the candy girl who goes to a private school and is clearly one of the smartest, and Mr. Moseby is the manager of the hotel. Moseby is often uptight and will do anything to get rid of the twins. They are all close in some way shape or form. This show is great for many reasons. It depicts the typical brotherhood that some may expect. Zack and Cody don’t always get along and it definitely shows. They do almost everything together and it always frustrates Mr. Moseby. They don’t intentionally cause problems, but somehow they always create some type of mess and of course, get out of it. London is the rich girl who always gets everything she wants. She actually buys everything herself and her father is only present in an episode or two. She often flaunts her money and her status as being the daughter of the owner of the Tipton. Maddie comes off as broke as she often explains how unfortunate she is. Her parents once bought her a flashlight for her birthday and then bought her batteries for Christmas. It’s absolutely hilarious and is another reason why this show is so great. Mosbey plays a huge role because he runs the hotel and absolutely hates everything the twins do. They seemingly ruin the plans he makes and often disturbs the guests. At the end of the day, Mosbey is a good guy and is very comical. The phrases he uses and almost unheard of and is sure to make anyone laugh, just like all of the other characters.

Compared to other teen sitcoms, such as Hannah Montana, iCarly, or Good Luck Charlie, this one seems to be the best. It’s super relatable and it can’t really be compared to others because of how unique it is, such as the setting. It’s a type of show that one must watch to completely understand just how great it is. The jokes are hilarious and the acting is superb. This show really depicts how life is not meant to be perfect and the struggles in life can be turned into positives. It really makes viewers think about life and how the little things can be turned into a joke or something to brighten your day. The plot is so different because it’s based in a hotel, but it goes together so well. There is an endless amount of memorable moments in the show. One that many might remember is when it’s Christmas and there is a huge snowstorm. The city gets shut down and the hotel runs out of rooms. Zack and Cody’s stepdad comes to town and Cody thinks his parents are getting back together. In the end, Carey and her ex-husband explain to the boys that even though they aren’t married and together that they still have loving parents who support them the same way a married couple would appreciate their children.

The script is “on point” and really makes the show come to life. It doesn’t seem very cheesy and it makes a great deal of sense. Viewers will catch on to the slang and terminology and will definitely joke about it. The theme songs are very catchy, much like other shows during this time.

Overall, this is a show I hope many in the late 90’s and early 2000’s have watched. It really seems like a comedy and is appropriate for all. Disney Plus just recently came out and this is one of the shows they have. It is trending for a reason. Over 11 years later and people are still eager to get their The Suite Life of Zack & Cody binge on.
