Former UW-Milwaukee star Tiby gets Bucks tryout Posted on May 18, 2016May 21, 2016 by Paul Willems Wednesday morning in Milwaukee, six NBA prospects prepared for the biggest tryout of their lives. One of those prospects was former UWM forward Matt Tiby. I appreciate the opportunity today to come play basketball for the @Bucks . It was a good experience and definitely can take away positives — Basketball Jones (@Tiby_TheDream34) May 18, 2016 Tiby, along with five other former college standouts, gathered at the Orthopedic Hospital of Wisconsin Training Center, the Bucks’ practice facility, to run drills and tests. See photos here. Bucks General Manager John Hammond and other team personnel, including players and coaches, were present at the workout. Answers were captured on the bucksdotcom Snapchat, including some by Tiby. He said that he thought the workout was successful and gave him an opportunity, saying “that’s all I really need.” Tiby tryout picture courtesy of NBA.com. Tiby also made a promise to “play as much basketball as I can, even if it’s at home.” Tiby also told Tisia Muzinga of PantherVision/Media Milwaukee Investigates, “Just glad to be given an opportunity to show what I am about and who I am. They (Bucks) were a class act.” Tiby was one of Milwaukee’s most consistent players during his three years with the Panthers. His scoring increased each season, including a career high in points and rebounds per game last season (15.6 PPG, 8.2 RPG.) Prior to suiting up for UWM, Tiby played one season at Iowa’s Kirkwood Community College. Recently, Tiby voiced his displeasure with UWM’s Athletic Department over social media, which you can read more about in Rebecca Papenthien’s story on Media Milwaukee.
