Paul Ryan Defends Trump and Fails Posted on June 28, 2017June 28, 2017 by Jasmin Hernandez Paul Ryan defends Trump at the same time James Comey was testifying for the first time in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Ryan’s statement is hurting Donald Trump unintentionally rather than helping him as he thought he was. A country run by a President learning on the job is not what America is comfortable hearing especially given all the heat Donald Trump is currently under. As Paul Ryan stated, “The President’s new at this. He’s new to government. So, he probably wasn’t steeped in the long-running protocols that establish the relationships between DOJ, FBI and White Houses. He’s just new to this.” Trump at UWM. (Media Milwaukee staff) America elected a president who was knowingly new to politics but is now upset that Trump’s actions, his promises and the rising Russian investigation are all negatively impacting Trump at once. House speaker Paul Ryan is a well-known politician who is reputable and brings a strong presence to wherever he may speak. Ryan’s reputation is one that is influential. Although his intentions are to defend Trump and make an adequate excuse, it just sounds plain bad. As Ryan is pushed further, he says, “I’m not saying it’s an acceptable excuse. It’s just my observation.” “He’s new at government, and so therefore I think that he — he is learning as he goes,” Ryan said. You cannot be in a position to run America when you are learning as you go. We begin to question, whom Donald Trump is going to for advice. His daughter, Ivanka, his son in law Jared Kushner, his family but also the individuals who have recently sparked a sour taste is America’s mouth. The president should have a solid background in politics, foreign policy, law and amendments and should genuinely take the interest of the people. Trump does not care for the people of America, and it showed through his actions and over committing when he cannot deliver. It’s a suspicious investigation that does not currently seem in Trump’s favor. To fire Comey after the FBI investigation confirms the suspicions of the American people. Paul Ryan again defends Trump and tries to sympathize by saying, “We now know why (the president) was frustrated,” Ryan said, when he was told by the former FBI director he wasn’t the target of an investigation “but that speculation was allowed to continue.” Even is Trump was frustrated, he must know that the outcome was going to involve him if the speculation were continuing. He took actions into his own hands and fires Comey but did not realize that he now looks guilty for immediate retaliation. In an interview with MSNBC, Greta Van Susteren asked Paul Ryan if he thought it was appropriate to ask for loyalty for the FBI Director. Ryan responded with, “No. I mean obviously, I don’t think that it is.” It is never going to be appropriate to ask for loyalty under investigation, the FBI director was committed to staying professional and fair. Paul Ryan’s defense was exactly what he stated, it’s not an “acceptable excuse,” but it’s an excuse nonetheless.
