Milwaukee Brunch Doesn’t Get Better Than Hi Hat Lounge Posted on December 12, 2017 by Abigail Chmelka Cuisine type: American Price per entrée: $8-$15 Attire: Casual Reservations: No Payment: Credit Cards Accepted Hi Hat Lounge 1701 N Arlington Pl, Milwaukee, WI 53202 (920) 225-9330 Sunday 10AM–2AM Monday 4PM–2AM Tuesday 4PM–2AM Wednesday 4PM–2AM Thursday 4PM–2AM Friday 4PM–2:30AM Saturday 10AM–2AM Being new to Milwaukee, I haven’t had many opportunities to explore the dining scene. However, I’ve taken a mental note of suggestions from coworkers and friends as to what I need to try when I do have time. One thing that has been repeated to me by several people was that I absolutely need to indulge in Milwaukee’s brunch. My only experience with Milwaukee brunch was when my boyfriend and I were trying to get lunch food downtown at 2 p.m. and we had to awkwardly leave three places we went to because they only served brunch until 3 or later. So, when my friend Heather and I decided we had long overdue catching up to do, we decided to indulge in Sunday brunch at Hi Hat Lounge on Brady Street. Hi Hat Lounge is located near all of the popular Brady Street bars, which is a convenient 10-minute walk for Heather and I, who live pretty close to each other. As I walked in I was immersed in a cool, dark atmosphere and a very inviting crowd. The tones were warm and dark browns, reds and woods which made me feel comfortable without being too intense. Our host brought us up to the second floor and sat us by the window where we could look out into Brady Street and enjoy the natural light. The brunch menu offered a plentiful variety of classic breakfast options and options with a twist. My eyes lit up when our waiter told us it was $15 bottomless mimosas. Need I say more? Brunch cannot be a brunch without mimosas in my book, and other places I researched downtown and in the Third Ward offered their bottomless mimosas for no less than $25. So, if you’re looking to stay price conscious while still getting quality drinks, I recommend Hi Hat. Also, if you’re looking for a quality spicy Bloody Mary with all the fixings, this is the place to go. I was feeling like just a classic brunch so I just got eggs, bacon and potatoes. It was an affordable price and I knew it would satisfy my comfort food craving. While we waited for our food to come, we watched the Packer game on their TV screen close by. A cook walked out and asked if we would like to participate in touchdown shots. Of course, we did! It was a very welcoming restaurant. All of the servers were very engaging and made sure we had everything we needed. Our food did not take long to make since the restaurant wasn’t very busy. Everything on my end came out perfectly. The bacon was crispy, the potatoes weren’t soggy and the ends were scrambled to perfection. They had hot sauce for me too, which is always a plus. My friend got an egg sandwich with goat cheese and avocado. She said it was so good she would make sure to eat it all! We were served a touchdown shot just in time, which was apple pucker. If you’ve never had apple pucker, it is tart and very, very sweet. It helped balance out the saltiness of my brunch. Overall, my first brunch experience was an excellent one. I ended up trying others since then and to compare, Hi Hat had great quality for a more affordable price than others downtown and in the Third Ward. If you’re one who wakes up late on weekends and wants some good quality comfort food for breakfast without totally breaking the bank, I would highly recommend Hi Hat.
