Brewers Playoffs: Something Special Brewing in Milwaukee

After a very successful weekend for the Milwaukee Brewers sweeping the Colorado Rockies in the NLDS in three games, Brew Crew fans look forward to carrying the hype and momentum into the NLCS. Die-hard Brewers fan Alex Teich said he couldn’t be more excited about his first playoff Brewers game.

“I’ve been waiting seven years for the Crew to be back in the playoffs here at Miller Park,” Teich said. “Last time the Brewers were in the playoffs I was 15!”

The Milwaukee Brewers wasted no time in their first playoff appearance in eight years at Miller Park, with an impressive sweep over the Colorado Rockies in three games after wins on the past Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. After popping champagne in St. Louis and Chicago over the past two weeks, Milwaukee decided why not in Denver as well as they celebrated another series clincher in Colorado. Milwaukee will advance to the NLCS for just the third time in franchise history.

Fans piled into their seats early before the start of game two, as they anxiously awaited first pitch.

Brewers’ fans across the state of Wisconsin look forward to continuing the celebrations. The big winning streak and deep postseason run has brought excitement to Brew Crew fans and a special buzz to the city of Milwaukee.

The Brewers wrapped up the quick two-game home stand on Friday afternoon at Miller Park. Brewer fanatics were out early firing up the grills before the 3:15 start, the familiar smell of brew and brats lingered throughout the packed Uecker and Yount parking lots outside of Miller Park as the festivities began pregame.

As rowdy as the tailgates and festivities were outside of Miller Park, fans surprisingly rushed in earlier than usual as long lines started to build up with anticipation and playoff fever before the first pitch.

The atmosphere inside Miller Park was even more electric. “Let’s Goooo Milwaukee” yellow rally towels were flying around in the air, much like a crazy NFL game with the terrible towels in Pittsburgh. There was not an empty seat in the house as the roof was closed from the Friday evening overcast, as the chants of “Let’s Go Brewers” and “MVP, MVP, MVP” echoed loud throughout the park for soon to be NL MVP, Christian Yelich.

The Brewers remain undefeated in the 2018 postseason, as fans enjoyed another victory in a sold-out Miller Park.

Brewers fanatic Tristan Meyer was wearing his throwback blue and yellow Robin Yount jersey, with a classic strap back Brewers hat, and he said he can sense something special brewing this year for the Crew.

“I was talking to my Grandpa last night who’s been watching the Brewers and baseball his whole life, he’s a true die-hard fan,” Meyer said “He said he’s seen everyone from Mickey Mantle, Barry Bonds, everyone. He thinks Yelich is the most complete player he’s ever seen…Yeli for MVP baby!”

Meyer and many of the other Brewers fans were eager for what would be the outcome in game two after the close, extra inning affair in game one. After blowing a two-run lead in the ninth inning Thursday night, the Crew rebounded in extra innings in walk-off fashion. Meyer hopes game two won’t be so tight this time around.

Meyer, Teich and the rest of the Brewer faithful were not disappointed. Milwaukee blanked the Rockies 4 to 0. Jhoulys Chacin took the mound for Milwaukee in game two and threw five shutout innings. Mike Moustakas once again came up clutch for the Crew in postseason, after his game-winning single Thursday night, he carried over that momentum to game two, finishing 2 for 4 with an RBI. Soon to be MVP, Christian Yelich, still found ways to impact the Crew even though he went 0 for 2, by recording two walks and a run scored.

The Brewers wrapped up the best of five playoff series in three games in Colorado on Sunday afternoon in shutout fashion spoiling the Rockies first home playoff game since 2009.

Brewers await their next opponent, the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS slated for this coming Friday at Miller Park. The Brewers will open the NLCS as the hottest team in the MLB playoffs after winning 11 straight games. Milwaukee has still not named who’s going to be the starter for game one on Friday. Ace, Clayton Kershaw will take the mound for the Dodgers in game one against the Crew in Milwaukee on Friday, according to https://www.mlb.com/brewers
