Packers Beat Tampa Bay

GREEN BAY-The Green Bay Packers Sunday improved their record to 10-0 to keep their undefeated season alive.

The Packers beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 35-26 on a cold 30 degree Sunday afternoon in Green Bay to a raucous Green Bay crowd of 70,498.

The Buccaneers kept the game close throughout the game being down only by two at one point in the fourth quarter when they were down 28-26. This is one of the closest games that the Packers have been in all year.

During the game the Buccaneers running back LeGarrette Blount had a 54 yard touchdown run in which he broke the tackles of six different Packers. That made the game a 14-7 lead for the Packers in the second quarter. “It was an outstanding run, the defense couldn’t stop him,” said Dennis Cronas a Buccaneer fan at the game.

The Buccaneers now have dropped to 4-6 losing their fourth game in a row after starting the season 4-2 and being a playoff contender.

Now the playoffs may be out of reach for the Buccaneers who finished 10-6 last year and just barely missing the playoffs.

Now the Packers are 10-0 for third time in their history, the other two times coming in 1929 and 1962, in both of those years the Packers went on to win the NFL championship. “I think they can go undefeated, with Rodgers at quarterback its possible,” said Michael Smith a resident Green Bay fan.

The first touchdown of the game came when the Packers were on the goal line and the Packers gave the ball to their big defensive tackle B.J. Raji who took the ball and got into the end zone in which the Green Bay crowd erupted.

Also another crowd favorite, John Kuhn, got a touchdown in the fourth quarter when the Packers were only up by two points leading 21-19. The Kuhn touchdown gave the Packers a 28-19 victory and the crowd chanted “Kuuuhn”

Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers had what some may call an off day by throwing an interception and 11 incomplete passes. However he also threw for 299 yards and 3 touchdown passes with a 112.3 passer rating.

This would be considered a great day for other NFL quarterbacks but Aaron Rodgers, who has been nearly perfect this year, this game he was a little off. With the game on Sunday he now has 31 touchdowns and only four interceptions on the season with 3.168 yards and a passer rating on the season of 128.8.

He is on pace to break the record for best passer rating for a season that is held by Peyton Manning who had a passer rating of 121.1 during one of Manning’s MVP seasons back in 2004.

So if Aaron Rodgers keeps these numbers up and keeps winning he will for sure be the front runner for league MVP and lead the Packers into the playoffs to defend their Super Bowl title and for Packer fans another Super Bowl win.

Jordy Nelson

Jordy Nelson continued to play well this season by having six catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns in the game. After both of his touchdowns he did a Lambeau leap into the crowd of screaming Green Bay fans.

Nelson is fast becoming one of Aaron Rodgers favorite targets, this year he has 40 catches for 756 yards and nine touchdowns. With those numbers he is now getting Pro Bowl considerations and if he gets into the Pro Bowl it will be his first Pro Bowl of his career.

Those numbers so far are already career highs for a season and he leads the league in yards per attempt 18.9 yards per catch. This surge started last year in the playoffs when Nelson had 22 catches for 286 yards and two touchdowns in three playoff games. Of those games 140 yards and a touchdown came in the Super Bowl victory over the Steelers.

“I’m happy for Jordy, not a lot of people outside of Green Bay know about him but he is a really good receiver,” said Tom Guyton a Packer fan on Jordy Nelson.

Nelson is one of many targets that Rodgers as on offense to throw to. Besides Nelson there is Greg Jennings, a former pro bowl wide receiver, Jermichael Finley, one of the better tight ends in the league, and Donald Driver, the veteran receiver who has been on the Packers since 1999.

Nelson was drafted by the Packers with the fifth pick of the second round of the 2008 NFL draft.

Undefeated season

The Packers next game is on short rest and is against division rival the 7-3 Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day. The last time the Packers were 10-0 in 1962 their first loss of the season came against the Lions on Thanksgiving.

his game will be one of the biggest tests the Packers will face for the rest of the season and it could be what decides whether or not they go into the playoffs undefeated.
