Three UW-Milwaukee Players Request Release Posted on March 24, 2016March 24, 2016 by Paul Willems Wednesday, the story of Austin Arians’ release was reported by multiple sources, including Media Milwaukee. Thursday, it is clear that other team members are following in his footsteps. William Behrns, UW-Milwaukee’s Senior Associate Athletic Director, who told Media Milwaukee of Arians’ release being requested, confirmed to the news site that two more players are doing the same. He said those two and Arians are the only players to have requested release. Behrns confirmed that Jordan Johnson and Akeem Springs, both junior guards at UW-Milwaukee, have requested their releases from the program. “At this point, those are the only three student-athletes to have done so,” he said. Johnson had a breakout season after transferring to UWM from John Wood Community College, breaking the school’s single-season and single-game assist records while averaging 12.5 points and 8.1 assists per game. Springs came second in the team in scoring at 13.2 per contest in addition to 5.3 rebounds per game. Rob Jeter. Photo by Dan Zielinski.
