Good Boys Movie Review Posted on December 17, 2019December 17, 2019 by Amanda Ploetz Ploetz Title: Good Boys Studio: Universal Pictures Director: Gene Stupnitsky, Lee Eisenberg Main actors: Jacob Tremblay, Keith L. Williams, Brady Noon, Run Time: 1:29 Good Boys by Universal Pictures is a R rated comedy and adventure movie brought by the guys who created Superbad and Neighbors. Good Boys is most definitely worth watching, and will make viewers laugh at, and with, the three young boys Max, Lucas, and Thor. Played by Jacob Tremblay, Keith L. Williams, and Brady Noon. With similar humor from Super Bad and Neighbors, this movie will be another hit alongside them. With receiving 110.2 million in the box office, viewers were excited to see another film by the creators. This time, instead of dealing with high schoolers or college students, the directors took viewers back to middle school. With reminding viewers how it feels to have their first crush, and their first kiss. People who have seen the other movies created by Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg will know what they are getting themselves into watching this film. It is raunchy, adult comedy that any adult will enjoy. This movie is not for kids, even though younger kids are stars in the movie. Adult content and adult language are filled throughout this comedy. Good Boys is comparable to Superbad, as it follows the crazy and stressful life of three middle scholars. Good Boys is just as original and hilarious as Super Bad is. Their innocence is hilarious and will make viewers wish they were kids again. Comedy movies is now expanded thanks to Good Boys, and hopefully a sequel will be in the making. Good Boys follows three 12-year-old boys Max, Lucas, and Thor. These three best friends call themselves the bean bag boys and are a team through whatever life throws at them. They are invited to a popular kid’s party, but not just any party, a kissing one. They go to the lengths of having to use Max’s fathers drone to spy on two teenage girls to find out the ways of the smooch. After the drone is destroyed, they must skip school for the day to get a new drone before Max’s father returns. Their adventure endures a lot more than a simple trip to the mall. The plot is an adventure, which is very enjoyable and most importantly, hilarious. These three boys are put to the test ethically and learn more about what life has to offer for them. Numerous scenes are uniquely memorable, and each middle schooler’s shines in their own way. One is shy, one has a potty mouth, and one believes in the truth more than anything else. This not so perfect trio is perfect for a comedy. Even though their personalities may clash, they are still all best friends. The visuals are fantastic and filmed very well. The movie shows all the bad and innocent sides of middle school. The most memorable moment is when Max, Lucas, and Thor must face college kids in a paintball fight. Why middle schoolers were in a college frat house is something viewers will have to see to believe. The script is hilarious, with new comedy that is hard to not laugh at. The actors do an amazing job in embracing the script, and do not hold back. Especially the main three actors, they play the rolls with ease. The movie was also moving, when the three best friends are put to the tests of friendship. Even if best friends can be pulled apart, they will always have each-others back. Also, the movie includes teachable lessons. For example, honesty is the best policy. The viewers will get the laugh promised, but also be reminded what it’s like to be back in middle school. Where the only thing to stress about is learning how to kiss. The bigger point being made, is even when everything seems lost, things will be okay in the end. Good Boys is also about the importance of friendship and accepting it when it changes as they grow. Good Boys is uniquely funny, and worth watching. The actors all give a hilarious performance that will leave viewers laughing in their seat. Viewers will be reminded what it is like to be in middle school and when we all were, not so innocent. These middle school boys adventure is something viewers will want to tag along with.
