Annamarie Murphy: How are you feeling about the upcoming November election?

Luke Levato: I feel nervous, but I know where I’m going.

Annamarie Murphy: What is motivating you to vote in this election?

Luke Levato: Just like the rising cost of everything and what I have been seeing around the world. I know it is more local, but from my perspective, Republicans seem to just care about themselves and Democrats I feel like are more for the local community. I want to see more of that, like food banks for people, homeless shelters, more funding for education, and stuff like that. Public health care is an important topic to me and the environment, which is a more democratic policy, I feel like. So that is where I am focused right now.

Annamarie Murphy: What are changes you want to see in the healthcare industry after this election?

Luke Levato: I want to see them go after insurance companies, to be honest. That is a big issue with the medical field and healthcare because the providers want to be able to give people the services and adequate health care assistance. And these insurance companies will randomly or recently use AI to accept and decline insurance claims. And it has been a big problem because people need these kinds of medications, these services, and these procedures are done. And I think having more access to health care in general is a big positive.

Annamarie Murphy: Do you care more about issues or party loyalty?

Luke Levato: I care more about issues; one thing about me is the environment. And locally I haven’t seen too much going wrong with it, but in my hometown, they’ve been kind of bulldozing my national, our state park and that like really upset me because I’ve grown up walking through there and camping there since I was a kid.

Annamarie Murphy: What’s one word that you would like to say to the young voters?

Luke Levato: Vote.
