The cause of Naroditsky’s passing is still a unknown, with no information available yet. He was the youngest chess author when he released his strategy book, “Mastering Complex Endgames: Practical Lessons on Critical Ideas & Plans.” In 2013, his commitment to chess helped him accomplish the International Master title in 2011. Naroditsky became a grandmaster of chess at age 18 at the Benasque Open. This young grandmaster had a substantial following on both Twitch and YouTube, where he showed his methods and had live competitions. The nickname his fans gave him was Danya, which is a common Slavic nickname for the name Daniel. During his last days, supporters were concerned with Danya’s Twitch and his mental health. On Monday, the Charlotte Chess Center, where Naroditsky was the head coach, announced his death on social media with a statement. “It is with great sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Daniel Naroditsky,” posted by the Charlotte Chess Center on Instagram and X. Days before his passing, on Oct. 17, Naroditsky uploaded a video on YouTube, “You Thought I was gone!? Speedrun Returns.” The introduction of the video has fans still in shock with the unfortunate timing of his death. “You thought I was gone forever, but little do you know, I’m back and better than ever. I know that the episodes have been few and far between,” Naroditsky said. “I’ve been taking a creative break. Deciding future avenues of content, so I won’t delve too much into it right now because I know everyone is excited for some chess games!” Naroditsky’s legacy will live on through his dedication as a teacher, his status as a grandmaster, and his leadership. His family, fans, and chess community will keep his passion for chess alive.
