The Devil Works Hard, But Kris Jenner Works Harder [OPINION]

Kris Jenner, the OG “momager,” has worked tirelessly since 2007 when the reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians (KUWTK) first aired. The word momager has coincided with Kris Jenner so much that she has recently trademarked the term. The KarJenner clan has skyrocketed in popularity since the beginning of their show. There’s one woman behind it all, Kris Jenner.

We all know that the KarJenners thrive on scandals; to many it’s what keeps them in the public eye. Within recent years, as the scandals have grown, many have begun to say that Kris is behind them all. The rationale is that she meticulously plans the scandal to break into the news while they are filming to help boost ratings for the next season of KUWTK.

Take the recent KarJenner scandal of Jordyn Woods, Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson, for example. Season 16 was being filmed when the news broke that Tristan and Jordyn shared a kiss a couple days after Valentine’s day. This was all while cameras were rolling for the upcoming season 16. Many people claimed that the cheating drama was just a bid for ratings to improve as KUWTK has been seeing a decline in their last few seasons. When a trailer for the upcoming season came out, the Tristan/Khloe/Jordyn scandal was front page.

Despite the fact that the cameras are often rolling, many fans were quick to point out that this was the fastest turn-around of footage they had seen. Which made the comments about the scandal being orchestrated that much more heard.

It’s no lie that Kris Jenner has her eyes on the prize. She is out to make money and she will jump on any opportunity that she sees will get her to that goal. Since Kris began in the entertainment industry, she has always had a very ambitious mindset. She was working overtime to feed her kids and keep a roof over their heads. Yet now that they are grown and have a name for themselves, she seems to be working even harder to keep the family relevant and interesting. In an interview to More magazine in 2011 Kris said, “My job is to take my family’s 15 minutes of fame and turn it into 30.” That is precisely what she is done.

Don’t get me wrong, I admire Kris in a way for that amount of work she does for all six of her children. Being the manager for each of very successful daughters seems overwhelming and daunting. Keeping schedules straight, finding new business while keeping each daughter happy is a job I wouldn’t want to do.

When looking at keeping an income and a roof over her head, I don’t blame Kris for trying to push her family into the spotlight for ratings. However, I think that sometimes for the amount that the family already puts out into the world, some situations are better left private and should not be used to endorse their tv show.
